My top 9 of 2017. I had planned to do a lot in 2017 and wound up mostly just being pregnant and prepping for baby. So for 2018, I'll get it together. I'll work harder. I'll be kind, but fierce. I'll wear lipstick, just because. I'll listen to my favorite music and sing along. I'll clear space around me and in my head. I'll do the best I can, and learn to tune out and shut down outside noise as needed. Cheers to 2018, and to you, my friends. May love and light, health and happiness be yours now and always.
Seashore Design Studio (@ilanaseashore) is taking part in the #jewelrybrandmakeover by Flourish and Thrive Academy! I've got so much going on (can you kinda tell from the picture?) but I'm taking the time to follow this course as best I can so I can engage in some business self discovery and try to refine my ideas of where I am and where I'm going. Too often, small business owners are so busy working IN their business that they don't take time to work ON their business. We're just starting out, but I've already been able to start working on what my ideal business looks like, so I can implement strategies to get there.
I've been a jeweler for a long time, and a crafter even before that. What brought me here? When my daughter (now an awesome toddler) was small I was struggling with maintaining my own style and personhood while implementing accessories that helped keep her busy. A silicon necklace is cute, but not my style...and she wouldn't chew on it anyway. This brought me to the place where Seashore Design Studio was born, utilizing my existing skills and tools (plus some new ones) to make sturdy chains that wouldn't snap and chunky centerpieces little fingers couldn't resist. Did I wear a wood ring teether sometimes? Yes, and for my son, I still do. But I layer with a stylish silver necklace that looks and feels like fashion jewelry, and is made to last.
Is it earrings that match everything? Does music sing to your soul? Simple shapes perhaps, or a memento of your babywearing journey? Add a chain or cord in your favorite length and there you have it - custom jewelry that expresses you, your style, and what matters to you. [Shop link in bio]
Baby nails are sharp! I'm not sure if they're worse long, or freshly cut.
Give those cute claws something to do besides scratch. A silver fiddle necklace looks great and gives little hands something to play with. They're not unbreakable (this isn't Kimmy Schmidt we're talking about 😎), but you can bet on strength and durability far above the norm.

It's snowy here in New York today, but this mama is on the sunny west coast (jealous!). Her custom centerpiece is one of my favorites; if I make memories in metal, this snuggly mama and baby bear piece is one to remember. I love making functional jewelry that will serve as a memento as the little ones grow, because it really does go so fast.
