My next #sydneyramentour2017
ramen 🍜!! Woops 😝 I meant #IchibanBoshi #一番星
I remember going to their first store at #TheStrandSydney
back in early 2000s for #TokyoRamen
and this time I went to their flagship restaurant chain located in the heart of #SydneyCBD
🏢 after having a browse at #KinokuniyaSydney
📚 as the restaurant is just right opposite of the bookstore.
I was craving #chinesefood
the night before so I ordered #Sanratanmen #酸辣湯麵
and #Wontonmen #雲吞麵
Sanratan literally means Sour Hot Soup Noodle. Sanratan was originated from #Sichuan
China however it has evolved and modified by different regions of China as well as other part of the world so I am no expert to judge the authenticity of the soup. Having said that, my ramen came with the right ingredients like ground pork, green onions, #blackfungus
, bamboo shoots and noodle was served in hot and sour soup. I must admit the soup tasted similar to what I have tried back home. I could taste the savoury and sour elements from the stock and vinegar however it was lacking the kick from the #whitepepper
(possibly catered for japanese) but overall it was a good ramen.
The wonton ramen came with #choysum
vegetables and wontons (duh!) that were wrapped in chewy wonton skins to my liking. I could see the prawn pieces although larger fillings would be welcomed. The ramen broth was a clear soup which was light but full of flavour (thanks to added Wakame). The added dried chilli paste on the wontons really went well with the wonton and perfected the soup.
My suggestion to @ichibanboshiaus is to add my favourite #tofu
in Sanratanmen and I will be back soon for another bowl! 😋
